The Watchers

This beautiful photograph, captured by Greg Beck, is from the edge of waters in California. Thank you to Greg for his wonderful gift, shared with the world. His photograph is called Serenity ((c)2011).

As you know, I am focused on the album of The Beloved for the month of June. Track three of The Beloved album is The Watchers. The Watchers is a piece of music that I composed around 1992, and it came from an experience that I had in the Mayan lands. We were traveling in a very small Mayan site....almost unexcavated....and as I stood at the top of one of the sacred structures, I saw the portal of light that lived in this place. It was still wide open and the music of The Watchers came from that felt sense of the beings who were still alive in this place....just no longer in physical form.

What are the Watchers? That title sounds passive, but the music is extremely active, and this vitality tells us a lot about the nature of the watchers. The Watchers was the very first piece that included my playing the drum, and of using electronic sounds to bring forward the energy of active beings and portals of the unseen world. Crackling electronic sounds at the beginning of the music, electronic choir rather than human choir, and wave forms at the end of this music.....all express relationship between us and the forces that surround us. My performance degree is in pipe organ, but that is not an instrument that is easily portable.(!) So the only piece of music which has pipe organ that I have composed is The Watchers. It's awesome to listen to this music and especially the pipe organ section while walking in the Mayan lands. WOW!

Why is The Watchers part of The Beloved album? All of these beings of the unseen world are part of the vast web of universal love that connects everything. They are in the arms of The Beloved, as are you and I.

Watchers are recognized in many ways on this planet. Many world cultures recognize elders who have passed but are still spoken to regularly, and who assist those who live in human form. The Maya of today recognize and talk with martin forces, ones that walk on the earth and work with the energy of the New Wisdom of the Possible through the various forces of Nature. All over the planet we recognize angels that protect and assist. All of these are Watchers. The Christians have a hymn that begins: "Ye watchers and ye holy ones..raise your voices."

I just heard from DailyOM today and they are going to feature "Heart of Sky/Heart of Earth" from June 26 through July 5th. So, Heart of Sky/Heart of Earth joins the featured music of The Beloved (featured on my website) which includes The Watchers, Stille Pointe, Chilam, Walking the Labyrinth, and Mayan Portal. It's one big celebration during the end of June! Love to all.
