What do horses have to do with music?

Yesterday I was out on a photo shoot and came across these beautiful horses in the early morning. They came across the pasture to greet me and get their pictures taken. I was able to connect with them....stroke them...and now bring their beauty onto the website.

One of the great things about my job is that music and writing are stimulated by the beauty of nature...therefore, I get to be out in nature often. My job is not about sitting at a desk for hours at a time.

Music is the voice of Mother Earth singing. Music is the power of the web of life that surrounds and connects all of life. Music is uniquely able to bring the human being into harmony with our soul-full selves, and into harmony with everything around us. Music uplifts us to our best nature. Music brings us into peaceful spaces, into fiery creative spaces, into dance, into happiness. Each part of life sings it's unique song. Each part of our human body sings it's unique song.

It's my job to hear the song and allow the music to flow through me and out into the world in the form of melody, harmony and rhythm. That sound so easy, but it does require a discipline to choose the pathway that will lead to hearing and allowing the music to flow. I can choose a miserable life....or a joyful life. I can choose the life of a couch potato... or a vigorous outdoor life. I can choose to love.....or not to love. These choices make me a musician....or not a musician.

It was great fun to greet the horses and bring them to you.

Music supports the world around me

Several weeks ago I received a phone call from a hospice nurse in Honolulu. She had a patient who was dying and listening to The Beloved was the only thing that could calm her down. She later called to say that this person had died peacefully while listening to The Beloved. That is why I do what I do. Creating and performing the music that comes to me is not done to sell music and make sales, but to bring into the world a quality of beauty and connection into the individual's inner world that is transformative. The ducks in this photo were hatched right outside of my mom's front window. The mother duck came out of the marshes to build her nest where mom could see it every day. Aren't they cute! It's amazing the beauty and the joy in nature. My mom is going through an important journey in her life right now, and family is very supportive of her in this time of transition. The Journey

This photo was taken in a nature preserve in Indiana and it is now covered in snow. We are under a winter storm warning...expecting another "many" inches of snow and it is beautiful. I loved this path because it reminds me of Copan, Honduras. I chose this photo for today's Musings because it calls forth the journey into the unknown which is my life and yours. The economic news yesterday was very bleak.. a couple of million people without work and without health insurance. Many millions more without enough work to actually buy enough food and to pay for the basics of life. The stock market falling....companies closing or downsizing. The political news was bleak....war.....terror....poverty across the world. And yet.....the unknown journey continues. We don't know really what this means.
