MUSINGS...by Beverly Rieger

The long winter hibernation is definitely over!  We are experiencing weather in the 60s and low 70s sometimes.  Grass is green…..my star magnolia tree is in full bloom….the bushes in Fox Island are now beginning to green….and here I am writing in the early morning hours again with my cup of coffee in hand. With the emergence of Spring comes the emergence of the new music.  Next week I will be in the recording studio composing and performing the first free download for all of you. In late August I will begin the new album "Wisdom Ablaze".  Ann Beeching is doing the original painting for the cover artwork, and it looks like we will see the Milky Way in the night sky with the Pyramid of the Moon.  This gives me and you some idea of the focus of the music. This is a sharing of the pathway of the artist/musician as new music develops over time.  It is a lovely and dynamic process!! Love to all!

Well……it's been two months since I have blogged.  How did that happen??!  Time is going so fast and my focus was on the outer "stuff" that keeps a business running well. Today is Spring manifesting in lightning and thunder.  Chak cracks open the sky in the mayan mythology and creativity pours down on the earth in the form of rain.  Much of my music contains the thunder of this planet Earth.  That magical process of lightning and thunder breaks open the music for us and brings us into the Heart of Everything. The new album of Wisdom Ablaze is a part of this creative outpouring.  What is the essence of Wisdom Ablaze?  It is "us" walking in the world with our unique fire….setting the world ablaze as we live our purpose in it's fullness.  We are fire!  We manifest wisdom in our soul essence. This new album is very mayan….instruments….mayan life as bird song, water, wind recorded in the mayan lands.  It will be powerful in drum beat ...

Here in the Midwest, we have just completed the month of January. It could be the darkest month, and cold and intimidating because of the snow. However, it went very quickly and was a month of expectation of the return of light and of enjoying the weather that we can only experience in the winter. January was actually pretty mild (all things being relative, of course). Now February has come in with a ROAR. We had 12 inches of snow and frigid temperatures, and are expecting more snow and more arctic blasts. What excitement! And the beauty is incredible: tree branches outlined in fluffy white; snow drifts that are pure white and cover all of winter's exhaustion. We have the difficulty of driving, which is encouraging more time inside….not a bad thing. However, I am holding in light all of the people whose lives are ended, or altered forever by serious traffic accidents. This morning was particularly bad for travel with very icy roads. It's a very quiet and peaceful Saturday morning. Later today, I will be making music with music groups four different times! Wisdom will indeed be ablaze in the world through the power of music. Tomorrow I play again with two more groups….then some time for reflection, family, and rest. When I am consciously aware of Wisdom within and around me, my schedule of music is exciting and life-affirming. I know how much music from the heart, and played in the energy of Wisdom, brings life, love, compassion, fire, healing to those who experience it and to myself. If I move out of the space of connection with my heart and with Wisdom, all of a sudden life can become frightening and overwhelming. But….that is just a small and limited space and I can move right out of it! My Christmas and solstice hope for all who are reading this blog, and listening to my music, is that you feel deeply the power of love and wisdom which surrounds and supports you in the midst of whatever life brings....

These last days of the year always bring me into a reflective space. Even though the outside is cold, the inner spaces are very warm. Wisdom and love feel close in my heart at this time of year. Creativity is strong. I always take inventory of my physical CDs for the year end, and am brought into gratitude for the gift of music that surrounds me, and flows through me. What a blessing! This year I will also be letting go of extra inventory of my CDs so that the new can have space. I have 15 different albums now and will keep all inventory of The Beloved, The Beloved Special Edition, Healing Music for the 21st Century, Mystical Rose, Deepening In Love, and Wisdom Enters The World In Love. I will keep a good quantity of each of my other albums (Mayan Dream, The Journey of Joy, Heart of Sky/Heart of Earth, Emergence, Radiance, VIDA, Ancient/Future Symphony, Deep Snowy Night, A Celebration of Life and Love) to meet the ongoing sales needs, but will be letting go of extra quantities of...

Unless you live in Southern California, or very South Florida, you are experiencing the Polar Vortex that is bringing a very early winter to the USA. As I sit here writing to you, my hot cup of coffee in hand, the air outside is crisp and frigid. Our first accumulating snow is expected this Sunday. I am listening to Deep Snowy Night and appreciating again the beauty of this music. For some reason, I felt that this album was sort of "second best" because it is my arrangement of Christmas carols and not my own original music. But it is awesome! Gentle…wisdom…bringing the heart from composers of all ages into our time again. After all, Christmas is one manifestation of our annual celebration of the heart wisdom emerging from the center of all things. This web of love connects all of us to each other and to those who have gone before us. This web of love connects us to the unseen world and to our planet Earth. It's amazing that I was preparing last week for the holiday season already. How can that be! But…..the holiday catalog is done…and everything is ready to mail on October 15th. WOW! That was a lot of work at weird hours (like the middle of the night often). For me, marketing is another powerful way to connect to all of you and to keep the relationship going that we have formed over the last 25+ years. Meanwhile, Deep Snowy Night is being sent to National Media Services for duplication. The artwork has been commissioned to Ann Beeching for a new CD called Wisdom Ablaze that will be recorded in the Spring and released in late Spring/early Summer. It's windy and very cold here this morning. October has come in with phenomenal color and like a lion…roaring. Love to all!
